2011 is Fading

Here is a little update for my Honeysuckle Book Tree. 2011 is fading fast, in a few more days we will have a brand new year. I hope it arrives with blessings and good cheer for everyone.
Are you making any new year resolutions? My only resolution is to have another book published so I can add it to my Honeysuckle Book Tree. I already sent a manuscript off to a publisher, now I am waiting for their response. I do hope it gets accepted. I believe it will make a good book to put on your child's book shelf. This book is humorous, because wherever I go, I love to bring smiles and laughter, even when my heart is breaking. I am good at doing that, but that is a different story that I will not go into. This page is about my books, not my mood swings. LOL
So, without further delay, I just want to say..........Happy New Years! Lets get some books published in 2012!!!! Let's get them published and sold!

Book Update for October 2011

Well here is some good news for a Monday morning. I just got word that three of my books will be selling in four countries. These books are the first ones that I had published. So, from this day forward, "Stories from Grandma's Garden, Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls and Smiles and Frowns through Animal Town's Storybook" will be gaining exposure in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and of course in the UK.

Now this makes me feel super good, my books going around the world and in the hands of children. I like hearing that. What do you think? I told you it is great being an author. What are you waiting on? Get creative!

Thanks Lulu.com!

Update on Wohali

Wow, great news! Wohali and the little people is going to be a print book too. I just read an email from the publisher. I am so excited. Though I know ebooks and Kindle are the going rage today, I still love it when you can pick up a paper back book. That must be because I am old fashion. Oh well, that's me in a nut shell. But don't get me wrong, a book is a book, regardless of how you read it. Heck, I have a Kindle on my computer. (Hope I am spelling that right)

I will keep you posted on when the paperback book will be released.

It is Thursday and I am feeling pretty darn good!

Boy I hope this works. I am always trying something new when it comes to marketing myself and my work. Just can't get enough of it, especially since the baby is sleeping like a log, and I get a chance to do a little writing. Oh well, so what if it is just a paragraph. Something is better than nothing.

All you have to do is copy and open and then you will see a surprise.

Oh yeah, the link works!!!

Wohali and the Little People, Book #4

I love all of my books, but this one I think is my favorite, all because of the Cherokee Indian theme. This story is about a young boy with an ethnic issue and attending school for the very first time. He fears having to give up his identity, his heritage and his Native culture in order to fit into a strange new world. His nerves gets the best of him on the first day as he takes that long walk through the woods, heading towards the unknown.
This book has a brand new book cover, so this is edition #2. It is also a e-book exclusive, which means a Kindle will do just fine with this reading material. You can purchase this book at http://www.amazon.com or from the publisher at http://www.writers-exchange.com This book is just right for ages 7-10.

Stories from Grandma's Garden Book #3

I am on a roll here. This is Book #3 by Winona Rasheed. This is a book for readers ages 7-10. Inside the pages of this book are three short stories that will fill boring days. (You know how kids do, they are always saying they are bored.) So, put a book in their hands and spark their imagination. The titles in this book include: Just my imagination, The Babysitter, and Silver and Gold Friends.Three great stories for the price of one. Enjoy this good read today. You can pick up a copy from http://www.amazon.com

Smiles and Frowns, Book #2

Five short stories make up the pages of this book. For those who love animals, the book takes your imagination through the world of talking animals as they go about solving problems in their lives. They will tickle your funny bone. All problems can be resolved when you find the right solution to a pressing issue. This tickle your funny bone book is for ages 6-9. You can pick a copy up at http://www.amazon.com

Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls

Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls is the first book that I had published. Three delightful stories fills the pages of this book of fairy tales. This book makes reading fun and enjoyable. Titles included are: Too Big for Us, Macy's Apple Tree Friend and Wishes Granted. The characters behind the titles are whimsical and charming as they go about sparking the imagination in the reader.
Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls is a book for those who are in the age bracket of 6-9. Pick up a copy at: http:/www.amazon.com

My Books All In A Row

I wonder, if someone asked you to name the titles of my books, could you? Well, I ain't mad at you if you can't, so here is what I am going to do. I am going to make a list of my titles for the next time you are at Amazon.com looking for a book for someone special.
Kids need to read more, don' t you think? "And guess you what" (That's a little Jamaican talk thrown in there.) Books by author Winona Rasheed will do the trick. I even have books with a collection of stories in them that will keep kids reading for days.
What a great way to end the day with a bedtime story, or share the book during circle time, or story time at school. Let an older sibling read to a younger sibling. I know, these aren't picture books, but you wait, I am going to come up with some of those too. With my books, you have to use a lot of imagination, for the characters will dance around in your head and you will see them not on the page, but indirectly.
Just an idea, children can read one of my books, and draw, and color what they think the characters look like. This suggestion are for those children in the 6-9 year-old bracket. Now that is using your noggin. Then if they like, they can send me a copy of the picture that they drew from whatever story, and I will post it on my blog and website. Just send it to me as an attachment and in the subject line write write the story title and senders name.
Now what do you think of that idea? Pretty clever, eh? I am looking forward to the responses, if any.
Send picture to: winonarasheed@yahoo.com
Subject line: title of story and artist name

Here they are: My Books All in a Row.

1. Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls- (A Collection of Short Stories)
2. Wohali and the Little People
3. Smiles and Frowns through Animal Town's Storybook- (A collection of Short Stories)
4. A New Home for Her Cubs
5. Stories from Grandma's Garden- (A Collection of Short Stories)
6. Broken Voices
Today is a good day to pick up a great book!

Book News and Updates

Okay, here it is the 4th week in May already, and guess what, two of my books are on the best sellers list again at Amazon.com

Broken Voices and A New Home for Her Cubs are still in the spotlight. Yeah me!! This goes to show you, if you are an author, you cannot afford to stop promoting once your books hit the shelf, for that is not the end of the road. You can't let your keepsakes just sit there collecting cobwebs. The world will not know about your books in just one or two swoops, because the world is too vast, even on the internet. If you don't want the readers to forget about your babies, you have to keep showcasing them, make them aware that you as an author is still here and so are your books.

Ella Rose and Kumani are tickled pink to be back in the spotlight. So, if you haven't picked up your copy of these two books, it is not too late. It is never too late if you like to read, or if you want to get your children interested in reading. These two books will do the trick and I don't say that just because I am the author. I say it because.....you just have to recognize a good book when you see it.

I'd love to hear from you if you have in your possession any of my books. Perhaps you will leave a review of it, share it with the world.

Now, hop on over to Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.com or if you want to get even more personal, hop on over to the publisher New Line Press- http://newlinepress.com and get your copies. They are so affordable, especially in today economy. With my books, you will always be able to afford a good read.

From the Desk of Author Winona Rasheed

______________________________________________________________________________
When it comes to creative writing, the passion of bringing words, conflict and a situation together, runs deep in my veins. My life is centered on writing, rather it is working on anew book idea, working on a freelance article, or just releasing my thoughts in a blog or two. I always manage to put a little writing into my daily life. For me, it is a must.

Some may think that a writer’s/author’s life is boring, for they do nothing but hang out with their computer keyboard or a typewriter if they are a tad bit old fashion. But I think not! There is complete satisfaction in meeting deadlines and bringing a story to an end, or to its climax.

As I see it, God has gifted us all with some kind of talent. For some it’s singing and dancing, or playing sports, or a musical instrument. But for me, it is writing and I have been at it for a long time. As a matter of fact, years upon years. However, my quest to become a writer/author is beginning to come together; which means sometimes success doesn’t happen over night. Sometimes it takes years before the door opens wide enough for you to step in. But again, when the door is ajar, don’t kick it closed and give up. Keep tugging at it with patience, endurance and dedication, especially when there is a deep passion to accomplish a dream or a goal. You cannot succeed if you give up or when you don’t believe in yourself or your capabilities.

So, if you write, write from the heart and not because you have to, but because you want to and need to, because you have a deep passion to become a writer/author.

Have a fabulous Writing day, for the sky is the limit!!!!

Stories from Grandma's Garden is another book with mini stories that will delight the reader. This book is a great "Read to Me" book, you know like for bedtime or circle time if you are a teacher in a daycare or a kindergarten teacher. This book has 42 pages. It will be one of your favorites....I guarantee.

Greet News Coming to My Honeysuckle Tree

Happy Monday! I just have to make this announcement. Are you ready for this?????? You better sit down for this one. Book #7 is about to be created. That's right, my manuscript has been accepted for publishing by Featherweight Publishing House out of New York. I have contract in hand and I have been assigned an editor to work with me on completing this project. I am blessed to have my foot in the door with this new book idea. They say the editor loved the story. Now isn't that just fabulous! That wasn't a question....it was a statement.

The story needs some more tweaking before it is ready to hit the stores and shelves. I can't wait to see what kind of book cover they will do. Oh yeah, I have my input on that too.

Stay tune for a new book release to be added to this blog. Oh dag, I forgot, I still have to finish adding my other ones on here. I stay so busy. I will work on that this evening. Meantime, I am going to go and get me something to eat, have a mid afternoon snack because I just worked up an appetite.

Keeping them Coming

Another great book listed here on Honeysuckle is Smiles and Frowns through Animal Town's Storybook. This is a little book with a long title; however, there is a reason for that, because inside this book are five great stories. That's right, I said it.....5. Most of the main characters in this story teller are animals. That's because kids love our four legged friends, both big and small. It has 56 pages and it too is full of imagination and surprise.

Inside you will find such titles as Slow Poke and Speedy, The Bears Adventure Day, Dutchy's Sunshine Party, Escape From Shady Grove Farm and Buster Brown Bear's Manners. With titles like these, you know this book is for 6-10 year olds, for there is something in it for everyone.

Slow Poke and Speedy is a new version of the old classic "The Tortoise and the Hare."
The Bears Adventure Day shows the trouble that three bear cubs get into when they decide to go exploring.
In Dutchy's Sunshine Party, The main character tries to save the day when his party becomes threatened when blue skies suddenly turn grey.
Escape from Shady Grove Farm is a tale of some pretty smart turkeys working together to escape their fate on Thanksgiving Day.
Last but not least is Buster Brown Bear's Manners, the bear in this story needs manners in a hurry if he is to attend a dinner party at a fancy restaurant. Can you teach a bear manners? You will have to read the book to find out.

Now, don't you think this is a must have book to have on your shelf?
With the world in such a Topsy-turvy shape, it's good to sit down with a good book and escape the jungles of the outside world.

This book is also sold at: http://www.amazon.com

My Honeysuckle Books

You know, I just love the smell of Honeysuckle, that is what inspired me to create this blog just for my books. Though my books are published by different publishers, they are still my Honeysuckle books. So I will eventually get them all listed here and they will come with a short description so you will see what you are getting.

Good books aren't hard to find when you know what you are looking for. Sometimes, you pick up a book just because of its cover...it lures you so that you can buy and then discover what lies within. The same goes for children books, you have to lure your readers in, grabbing their attention.

Books are like mini movies with an expression of the storyteller or author. So with that said, Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls is a book that holds 3 mini movies you might say. The 70 page book contains titles such as: Macy's Apple Tree Friend, Too Big for US and Wishes Granted.

This is the perfect storybook for 6-9 year old kids, but of course, 10-year-old readers will enjoy it too. In Macy's Apple Tree Friend, the main character discovers a secret that has been around since her mother was a young girl. In Too Big for Us- Favorite toys try to hid away from the inevitable, and in Wishes Granted- the wizard comes to the rescue of a unicorn and a dragon.

This oldie but goodie book is full of imagination, drama and a little suspense. At times it will even tickle your funny bones. Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls has the right ingredients that creates great reading entertainment and one that touches the spirit of young readers far and wide.

So, the next time you are in the market for some good reading material for your young readers......remember my books, and this one in particular.

Sugar and Spice Fairy Tales for Girls can be bought at Amazon.com

Trust me when I say.......it's a great buy.
